Press ReleasesThe President to discuss Baltic Sea pollution issues and meet with Vladimir PutinTuesday, February 9, Vilnius - Tomorrow, February 10, Wednesday, President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė goes to Helsinki to participate in the Baltic Sea Action Summit convened on the initiative of the President of Finland.
As part of the visit, President Dalia Grybauskaitė will have a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. The bilateral meeting was initiated by the Russian Prime Minister.
President Dalia Grybauskaitė says that the best result in addressing Baltic Sea pollution issues can be achieved only by developing cooperation between public and private sectors. It is therefore a must that public efforts are backed by private companies.
"Pollution of the Baltic Sea has reached the critical limit. It is a matter of concern for all of us, and concrete commitments to address environmental problems of the Baltic Sea must therefore be assumed not only by governments but also by private companies," the President says.
The Summit will bring together heads of states and governments and representatives of business and non-governmental organisations from the countries surrounding the Baltic Sea. Press Service of the President |
