The President received letters of credence from Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates

Tuesday, November 16, Vilnius - President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė received letters of credence from the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed Ahmed Al Mahmood.

 

The President underlined in the meeting that energy topped the agenda of bilateral relations between Lithuania and the UAE and that Lithuania was interested in cooperation in the area of developing alternative sources of energy, especially solar energy, and in possibilities to import liquefied gas.

 

The President suggested developing bilateral economic relations by attracting more investment from the UAE to Lithuania.

 

According to the President, cultural and student exchanges are the best way for Lithuania and the UAE to know each other's cultures better.

 

Mohammed Ahmed Al Mahmood is the first ambassador of the UAE accredited to Lithuania. The diplomat resides in Berlin. Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Lithuania and the United Arab Emirates were established in October 1992.
