The President congratulated her Slovenian counterpart of Statehood Day

Saturday, June 25, Vilnius - President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė sent congratulations to President Danilo Türk of the Republic of Slovenia on Slovenia's national holiday, the Statehood Day.

"Slovenia and Lithuania have traversed a similar path from dramatic fights for independence to restoration of statehood to integration into the European Union and NATO. Slovenia was among the first nations of the world to have recognized Lithuania's independence reestablished in 1990. Therefore, I am greatly pleased that our countries continue the two decades long tradition of mutual support and collaboration on issues of topical importance for both Lithuania and Slovenia as well as for Europe as a whole. I strongly hope that this tradition will expand and grow stronger," the President wrote in the letter of congratulations.
