The President congratulated Canada’s Governor General on Canada Day

Friday, July 1, Vilnius - President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite sent congratulations on behalf of herself and all people of Lithuania to Governor General of Canada, David Johnston, on the national holiday, the Canada Day.

"Twenty years ago, at a time of difficulty for our country, Canada made a resolute step and was among the first to recognize Lithuania's re-established independence. I would like to take the opportunity to highlight once again the historical significance of this decision and to express my great pleasure at the achievements attained in our bilateral collaboration. I hope that by mutual efforts we will find new avenues for political, business, scientific, and cultural cooperation to make Lithuanian-Canadian relations even stronger and the ties between our people closer," the President's letter of congratulations reads.
