Talented and hard-working people make Lithuania's statehood stronger
Friday, July 6, Vilnius - On the occasion of the State Day, President Dalia Grybauskaitė presented decorations to Lithuanian citizens and foreign nationals for their merits to the Republic of Lithuania and the promotion of the name of Lithuania in the world.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, the President underlined that those who were honored with state awards contributed in a singnificant way to fostering Lithuania's creative and moral growth and advancing its international standing. They taught us respect for the state and inspired pride in the nation.
"You spare no effort and talent to make Lithuania's statehood stronger and promote its global presence. Your works are an expression of national creativity and represent Lithuania as an open, modern and tolerant state," the President said.
More than 30 persons were awarded with state decorations. Among them were movie, television and stage actors Regimantas Adomaitis, Juozas Budraitis, Vida Vaiva Mainelytė, Vytautas Paukštė; aerobatic pilot Jurgis Kairys; active preservers of the memory of Lithuanian freedom fighters: singer Aistė Radzevičienė and composer Rokas Radzevičius from the music band Skylė, journalist Marius Jančius; members of the anti-Soviet resistence movement, promoters of international relations, army officers, artists, doctors, and educators.
