Press ReleasesPresident Dalia Grybauskaitė will meet with President Gjorge Ivanov of MacedoniaMonday, April 30, Vilnius - Tomorrow, May 1 at 10 a.m., President Dalia Grybauskaitė will meet with President Gjorge Ivanov of the Republic of Macedonia. A bilateral agreement on cultural cooperation is going to be signed during their meeting at the Presidential Palace.
The two presidents will discuss relations between Lithuania and Macedonia, opportunities for cooperation in economic, agricultural, cultural, and higher education areas as well as Macedonia's integration into the European Union and NATO.
The agenda will also include the topical issues of energy security and nuclear safety. According to President Dalia Grybauskaitė, Lithuania and Macedonia are facing similar energy security challenges after the decommissioning of Lithuania's Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant and Bulgaria's Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant.
Both Lithuania and Macedonia have decided to develop nuclear energy and both countries speak out for the most stringent safety requirements to be applied to planned and existing nuclear power facilities.
