President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from Ambassador Maryse Berniau of France. Extending congratulations to the new Ambassador, the President underscored the importance of Lithuanian-French cooperation in the EU and NATO context.
 
President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations to President-elect Rosen Plevneliev of Bulgaria. "I sincerely wish you every success in implementing the reforms which, even though complicated, have the support of your citizens and carry great importance to your country, as well as in ensuring peace and prosperity for Bulgaria and its people. I also wish that cooperation between Bulgaria - under your leadership - and Lithuania be further developed in a constructive way; and therefore I would like to take the opportunity to kindly invite you to come to Lithuania on an official visit at a time convenient to you," the President wrote in her message of congratulations.
 
President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations to President-elect Michael D. Higgins of Ireland. "On behalf of the Lithuanian people and on my own behalf, I extend our congratulations on your impressive victory in Ireland's presidential election and on the vote of support you received from the citizens of your country. I sincerely wish you every success in taking on new responsibilities and ensuring well-being, security and peace in Ireland. I also strongly hope and believe that cooperation between Ireland - under your leadership - and Lithuania will be further developed in a constructive way," the President wrote in her message of congratulations.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė delivered an address at a festive meeting held to celebrate 100 years of the National Women's Council of Finland. The President said that Lithuania and Finland were among the first countries in Europe where women's movements emerged one hundred years ago and where women were granted the right to vote. Now, a century on, women's rights and equal opportunities have become a universal norm.

Bilateral cooperation and EU economic stability were among the topics discussed by President Dalia Grybauskaitė and the President of Finland, Tarja Halonen. During their meeting in Helsinki today, they also exchanged opinions on nuclear safety and energy issues. President Dalia Grybauskaitė is currently in Finland on a working visit. The President underlined that Finland, with its huge experience in waste processing, biofuels and other alternative energy sources, was a model example for Lithuania in attaining effective energy use and a stronger energy sector.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė, currently on a working visit in Helsinki, met with the President of Finland, Tarja Halonen, to discuss Nordic-Baltic cooperation issues. This year Finland coordinates the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) cooperation with Lithuania taking over these duties next year. Lithuania and the other Baltic and Nordic countries cooperate actively in advocating the interests of the region in the EU, NATO, OSCE, and other international organizations.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė met the Prime Minister of Denmark, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, to discuss bilateral relations, the economic situation in Europe, the decisions made at the recent European Council meeting on the euro area debt crisis, ways of strengthening cooperation between the Nordic and Baltic countries, and energy security issues.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from New Zealand‘s Ambassador Peter Howard Riding. The President discussed with the new ambassador to Lithuania the prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation, in particular in trade and investment sectors.
 
President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations to President Václav Klaus of the Czech Republic on Independence Day. "I hope that the dialogue and cooperation between our two countries - which has grown stronger in the recent years - will allow to achieve aspirations important not only to us, but also to Europe as a whole," the President wrote in her message of congratulations.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė attended the informal European Council meeting to discuss a comprehensive set of measures for controlling the euro zone debt crisis. The euro zone countries submitted to the European Council concrete measures how to consolidate – using the EU’s available instruments to a maximum extent – public finances and stabilize the banking sector.
