Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Lithuania’s permanent representative to the OSCE

Wednesday, January 11, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Lithuania to the OSCE with the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Giedrius Čekuolis.

According to the President, Lithuania's successful chairmanship of the OSCE is over but our works in this organization are not completed yet. Throughout 2012 Lithuania will belong to the OSCE Troika of past, present and future Chairmanships. It is therefore the task of Lithuanian representatives in the OSCE this year to ensure that the works performed during Lithuania's chairmanship are taken over and further continued.

In the course of his diplomatic career Giedrius Čekuolis worked in various divisions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, served as a Lithuanian ambassador in Spain and France as well as ambassador to Tunisia, Morocco and Andorra. The 52-year-old diplomat speaks English, Spain, French and Russian.
