President Dalia Grybauskaitė attended the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Darius and Girėnas transatlantic flight. The President laid a wreath of flowers at the monument marking the site where the two pilots perished near the Polish village of Pszczelnik. The airplane Lituanica, piloted by Steponas Darius ir Stasys Girėnas, crashed on 17 July 1933.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė attended the Central Europe Summit in Slovakia. At a unique forum of presidents from twenty countries, discussions were held on the future of Europe and the challenges facing European citizens. President of the European Council Herman van Rompuy also participated in the summit. Although the main topic of this summit was the consequences of economic crisis and ways to deal with them, European Union's relations with neighboring countries have turned to be one of the key issues at the meeting. Presidents of Serbia and Kosovo were participating in the summit for the first time.

At their meeting, EU heads of state and government discussed how to reduce prices for energy resources and to fight tax fraud and tax evasion. At their meeting, the heads of state and government have outlined guidelines for the EU internal and external policies in the energy sector, with a key focus on building the EU's internal energy market and on external energy policy, and discussed tools to lower high prices of energy resources.
