President Dalia Grybauskaitė attended the inauguration of the newly elected pontiff Pope Francis. The President congratulated His Holiness on behalf of the people of Lithuania and presented him an original Lithuanian Palm Sunday flower - verba - which was specially made for the occasion by the women from Vilnius district.

During her visit the President was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė together with European leaders and EU's highest-ranking officials attended the Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony in Oslo. This year the prestigious distinction went to the European Union for more than a half century of peace, reconciliation, democracy and respect for human rights.
