Messages of Congratulation
Message of congratulations from President Dalia Grybauskaitė to Dilma Rousseff, President-elect of the Federative Republic of Brazil
Dear Mrs. Rousseff,
I would like to extend congratulations, both personally and on behalf of the people of Lithuania, on your election as President of Brazil. I am sincerely delighted that a woman leader will stand for the first time at the presidential helm in the largest country of Latin America. I wish you strong resolve, commitment and all the very best in your new responsible position.
The goals you have set - poverty reduction, family support and economic growth - are greatly important to every citizen. I wish you every possible success in delivering these objectives. I am especially pleased that you have placed gender equality among top priorities of your political agenda. I would like to take the opportunity to kindly invite you to Lithuania on June 30 of next year for a high-level meeting on global gender equality. The meeting will conclude Lithuania's presidency of the Community of Democracies.
I would also like to express a strong wish as you assume the duties of the president's office that relations between Lithuania and Brazil will develop and expand in economic, cultural, political, and all other areas. I am convinced that it is in the best interest of the people of both our countries.
Once again, congratulations on your victory in the presidential election and best wishes for successful work in attaining your goals. Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration.
Dalia Grybauskaitė, President of the Republic of Lithuania
